Pampanga Capitol bares infrastructure programs, P1.5-B in 30 months

LUBAO, Pampanga–Governor Lilia G. Pineda has announced Wednesday that her administration has already implemented some P1.5 billion infrastructure projects in the province within 2 years and 6 months.
The announcement was made before the barangay officials in the Second District during the Peace and Order Council Meeting held at the Pineda Gymnasium, this town.
The provincial government has funded major infrastructure projects like construction and renovation of district hospitals, construction of classroom buildings in different public schools and provincial, municipal and barangay farm to market roads and covered courts.
The governor has also initiated the construction of the new Pampanga Provincial Jail to accommodate the increasing number of inmates who are staying in the highly congested old provincial jail.
Hospital buildings
The Capitol has almost completed the general renovation and improvement of all existing district hospital buildings in the province including the provision of facilities and medical equipments.
The governor said the improvement of district hospitals is 90 percent completed. Through the assistance of the Department of Health (DOH), the Capitol has also realized the construction of birthing stations, additional hospital buildings and diagnostic ward inside the Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Hospital.
Classrooms, covered courts
Some 183 newly-constructed classrooms and six covered courts in various public schools in the province had been constructed with an estimated amount of P176 million.
Records shows that in 2011, the provincial government has spent some P50,083,216 for the construction of 45 new rooms; repair and improvement of 32 classrooms and building of 5 covered courts.
Last year, it has allocated some P54,149,836 to finance the construction of 28 new classrooms, repair and improvements of 77 classrooms and one covered court. It has also spent some P62.5 million for the construction of more classrooms and another P9.7 million for the construction of comfort rooms for 26 public schools.
Roads, slope protection
The provincial government has also initiated the reconstruction of several provincial roads and dikes in flood hit towns such as improvement of dikes in Mandili, Candaba and San Sebastian, San Luis town; Pampanga River Dike road Batasan-Candating section in Arayat; San Nicolas First barangay road in Sasmuan; Phase 11 of Guagua-Sta. Rita-Porac road San Matias and Becuran section; Phase IV Dila-dila section both in Sta. Rita and Phase V Dila-dila-Pulong Santol section in Sta.Rita-Porac.
It has also worked on the widening of San Miguel-Sta.Cruz barangay road in San Simon and reblocking and asphalt overlay of Sto. Domingo-Lourdes-San Isidro-Telacsan-Colgante provincial road from Minalin to Apalit and Macabebe.
The completion of the improvement and concreting of the provincial road in San Juan-San Jose-Natividad-Lambac-Pulong Masle road Lambac section in Guagua, San Matias-San Simon road San Matias section in Sto. Tomas, and Del Rosario-Bacolor road in the City of San Fernando, Sta. Ana Magalang along San Agustin section and in San Sebastian San Luis was already finished.
Municipal infrastructures
The Governor has provided some P13 million for each of the 20 municipalities and city in the province with a total amount of P260 million in a span of more than 2 years.
She said that these funds are intended for the pet project of the municipal government units such as reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure facilities and their projects highly needed in the municipality.
