Porac officials launch grassroots anti-criminality campaign

PORAC — Local officials here led the launching of a grassroots anti-criminality campaign Tuesday that involves the participation of different sectors in the community.
The program, dubbed as “Pamisanmetung A Organisasyun ding Residente at Capulisan Laban King Kriminalidad” or simply Porac, was instituted through the efforts of Porac Municipal Police Station chief Neil Oligario Miro.
Miro said the program aims to facilitate the faster dissemination of anti-criminality programs of the police with the help of sectoral volunteers.
The program, he said, aims to engage the residents of the town to become a part of the anti-criminality campaign of the town.
“The police, in terms of manpower, cannot fully accomplish their programs without the help of the people in the community,” Miro said, stressing that currently, the police personnel in the town is not more the 30.
This, he said, is not enough to cover the security needs of the town that boasts of a 100,000 plus population, with the biggest land area among all towns and cities of the province.
Mayor dela Cruz, for his part, said he is proud about the initiative being taken by the local police, adding the Municipal Government will always be behind the local police in its peace and order initiatives.
Dela Cruz said Porac town needs to maintain good peace and security programs in order to attract more investors into the town.
“We are now in the forefront of development as many investors have submitted proposals for development here. We can get more of these good opportunities if our town is able to implement a good security program,” Dela Cruz said.
Tuesday’s launching was highlighted by a “Alay Lakad” from the town’s main circumferential road leading to the municipal hall. A program highlighting the current initiatives being undertaken by the local police then followed.
Officials also burned effigies representing lawless elements in front of the municipal hall.
