Sta. Rita-Porac P31-M rehab work starts

STA. RITA — Governor Lilia Pineda lead Thursday the groundbreaking of the P31-million road rehabilitation of Sta. Rita-Porac road, setting into action the four development works in the province.
Pineda was joined by Sta. Rita Mayor Yolanda Pineda and Porac Mayor Condralito dela Cruz during Thursday’s groundbreaking ceremony at Barangays San Matias and Babo Sacan in Sta. Rita and Porac town, respectively.
The development works include the improvement and rehabilitation of the Sta. Rita-Porac Road Phase I (San Matias Section) at P8.2 million, Sta. Rita-Porac Road Phase III (Becuran-Diladila Section) at P8.9 million, Sta. Rita-Porac Road Phase VI (Pulung Santol Section) at P8.8 million, and the Sta. Rita-Porac Road Phase VII (Pulung Santol-Babo Sacan Section) at P5.7 million.
The projects cover some 2,820 linear meters of road at a funding of P31,925,526.
Pineda said the development works will finally put an end to the long problem of motorists and commuters here on the poor state of their roads that have been damaged by quarry trucks during the previous years.
The Sta. Rita-Porac road is a vital access route for motorists going to Angeles City and Clark Freeport and is a major road access to vast quarry deposits in Sta. Rita and Porac towns.
The two mayors thanked Pineda for the initiative, adding the development works will make travel time more efficient and will greatly benefit commercial activity for both towns.
“This new development will greatly help commuters and commercial vehicles in accessing towns in the western end of Pampanga. We are also set to implement strict monitoring of anti-overloading so as to protect the new roads from damage,” Mayor Pineda told Sun.Star Pampanga.
Mayor Dela Cruz, for his part, said the new development works will go well with their canalization works in various barangays traversed by the road.
“Commercial vehicles and commuters going through the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway will find travel into our town more pleasant now with this new rehabilitation works initiated by our governor,” Dela Cruz said.
Initially, the Provincial Government of Pampanga earlier finished development works at the Sta. Rita-Porac road that include the Improvement and Rehabilitation of the Guagua-Sta. Rita-Porac road Phase II (San Matias-Becuran Section), Guagua-Sta. Rita-Porac road Phase IV (Diladila Section) and the Guagua-Sta. Rita-Porac road Phase V (Diladila –Pulung Santol Section).
The said road projects have all been completed as of April 30, 2011 according to the records obtained from the Office of the Provincial Engineer.
